Forest of Dean Area Wind Band (FODAWB)

The Forest of Dean Area Wind Band caters for all brass, woodwind and percussion players aged 7 and over.  Players of all ages standards are welcome - it doesn't matter if you only know a few notes or if you are playing at Grade 8 standard as we have a range of Wind Bands playing at varying levels from our Starter Band (ideal for those who only know a few notes, who have been part of a Whole Class music scheme or taken part in a GM First Access course) to our award-winning Area Wind Band which regularly participates in national events such as the National Festival of Music for Youth and the National Concert Band Festival.

Adults welcome!  if you are a parent, friend of a current member or a local resident and play an instrument then why not join us - our aim is to provide a local wind band for the Forest of Dean that meets the needs of the whole community.

Saturdays from 10am - 12 noon

FAME Academy welcome anyone who has been involved in a Wider Opportunities, First Access or Whole Class Music scheme through their schools as well as individuals who have been learning at home.  It doesn't matter if you only know 5 notes on your instrument or if you can't read music as the staff at FAME Academy can teach you all you need to know to make the step up into the Forest of Dean Area Wind Band.

Area Wind Band

The Area Wind Band is our top-level wind band. They are a vibrant and enthusiastic group who enjoy exploring the expansive and diverse modern Wind Band repertoire. FODAWB has regularly competed at the National Concert Band Festival Finals and the National Festival of Music for Youth. Each year FODAWB gives a number of family concerts as well as charity performances in the local community.

FODAWB rehearses between 10.00 and 12.00 every session and everyone is welcome but to really get the most out of this group it is suggested that players are Grade 2 or above.  If you are not sure if you will be able to cope with the music, just pop along to a session and join in to find out - we promise to look after you!

Adults welcome!  if you are a parent, friend of a current member or a local resident and play an instrument then why not join us - our aim is to provide a local wind band for the Forest of Dean that meets the needs of the whole community.  GM also hire musical instruments  - visit our main website for more details.
