Forest Music Centre
The Forest Music Centre is a new facility which caters for all string, brass, woodwind and percussion players.
It's roots are very much in 'community'. Players of all ages and standards are welcome – this includes adults! If you are a parent, friend of a current member or a local resident and play an instrument then why not join us - our aim is to provide a friendly, welcoming place where people in and around the Forest of Dean can come and make music, make friendships and build in their confidence and skills through ensemble music making. So why not give it a try!

Orchestra
As this new music centre evolves during 2025-26, we will be moving from the previous Wind Band model that has been running in Coleford for many years to a broader instrumental ensemble that also includes string players.
String Starters
In order to support the development of budding string players in the Forest of Dean we will also be starting a new 'String Starters' group for beginners of all ages from 13th January 2026. Why not come and learn alongside your child, or give your child the opportunity to develop further if they have experienced Whole Class Instrumental Tuition (WCET) in their school. Maybe convince a friend that your New Year resolution for 2026 is to start learning an instrument - it's great for your mental and physical health, as well as being lots of fun!

Our new ukulele group is for adults and young people to learn and improve their ukulele skills together. No experience necessary, you'll just need a ukulele. Starting 13th January 2026.

Subscription works out as just £5.83 per weekly session for Orchestra and just £2.90 for String Starters and Strumthing Special.
