Gloucestershire Youth Wind Orchestra (GYWO)
GYWO was formed in 1981 and is the county’s multi-platinum award-winning ensemble, regarded as one of the finest youth concert bands in Great Britain. The band has represented Gloucestershire in the National Concert Bands Festival at the Royal Northern College of Music as well as receiving an invitation to perform at the National Festival of Music for Youth at Symphony Hall.
GYWO perform regularly throughout year providing great musical experiences for the students. GYWO can also boast numerous tours of Belgium, Lithuania, Germany and, most recently, a very successful six-day tour of Spain in 2022.
Emphasis is always on quality music making, through a wide range of musical genre and styles. If you want to perform music Elgar to E.T. then do get in touch at glosmusic@gloucestershire.gov.uk and come along on a Thursday.
Standard
We recommend you are at least of Grade 5+ standard to join GYWO, but this doesn't mean you need to have taken the exams. We welcome all wind, brass and percussion instruments.
