Music for Youth Regional Festival, March 5th and 6th 2016 at Cheltenham Town Hall

news

Gloucestershire Music is delighted to have teamed up with the world’s largest youth music festival, MUSIC FOR YOUTH.

On March 5th and 6th 2016, youth music groups of all types, sizes and genres will have the opportunity to perform on the impressive stage at the Cheltenham Town Hall.  This two day event is one of many regional festivals held between February and April each year covering the whole of the UK.  Few regional festivals however have such an incredible setting within the regency grandeur of the Cheltenham Town Hall.

The rewards are fantastic

Each performance is given feedback by specialist visiting Music Mentors.  The Mentors are professional musicians who are there to support and offer encouragement on how to take those next steps in improving your ensembles skills.    Successful entrants are then invited to performances at the Birmingham Symphony Hall, in July and even to a place in the Schools Prom at the Royal Albert Hall, London in November.

This year we are delighted that no fewer than 20 of the 45 groups are from Gloucestershire (these are listed in bold below in bold).

Steve Legge (Assistant Head of Gloucestershire Music) said:  Gloucestershire can be very proud of the fine youth music making it has within the county.  Our groups have already progressed, on many occasions to Birmingham and the Royal Albert Hall.  Most important, however, is the taking part.
