‘Learn As You Play’ with Gloucestershire Music

Have you always wanted to play a musical instrument or make a return to music making? Do you struggle to find a tutor or instrument? Gloucestershire Music has a solution for you!

Gloucestershire has a varied and rich heritage of music making for all ages. From brass bands and orchestras, to choirs and folk groups, there are literally hundreds of groups you can join. 

What if you have always wanted to play a musical instrument but haven’t had the chance? Well, Gloucestershire Music (GM) can offer you just that. GM provides a range of groups where you can ‘Learn As You Play’ or Sing.

Steven Legge, extended learning & provisions manager for Gloucestershire Music, said: “We run no less than 16 weekly music centres, band and orchestras for musicians of all ages and abilities. Membership to our groups benefit from expert tuition, visits from professional musicians and performances at venues including Royal Northern College of Music, Cheltenham Town Hall and the iconic Royal Albert Hall.

“We hope our ‘Learn As You Play’ scheme will encourage many more adults to take up an instrument and make music together.”

Five Valleys Music Centre (FVMC)
FVMC meet at Archway School each Saturday morning and offers a range of musical activities for adults. There is theory support, an adult choir and a new ‘Learn As You Play Ensemble’ for those wishing to learn a woodwind, brass or string instrument. Sessions cost £5 a week paid via our music card scheme.  

Lakeside Concert Band (LCB)
LCB meet on Thursday evenings at Lakeside Primary School and have a thriving membership of over 40 adults who have all started through our LAYP scheme. LCB are now offering brass lessons for adults each Thursday evening. Sessions cost £5 a week paid via our music card scheme. 

Need to hire an Instrument?
Did you use to play an instrument? Why not dust off that old clarinet or trombone and come along to one of our many sessions. We can arrange instrument hire if needed. Our hire scheme can offer a range of instruments at a low hire cost.
