Pathways to learning a new instrument!

Hire an instrument!

It's a great idea to hire an instrument before committing to buying one and we have so many instruments to choose at Gloucestershire Music! Some instruments come in different sizes (i.e. string instruments) to suit younger players and you can size up as your child grows!
We also offer bursaries for free hire so please do check out the criteria to see if you might be eligible.

Find a tutor!

If looking for instrumental lessons the best place to start is to enquire with your Child's school, as they may have instrumental teachers with availability. If you are looking for tutors outside of school then we can point you towards Touchbass where some tutors advertise themselves. This is not a quality assured system but simply a 'noticeboard' to help you find the tutor that feels right for your child.

Join a music centre!

Once you have had at least a term of tuition you could be ready to join one of our music centres. We have a range of activities which will help you develop your musicianship skills and enable you to play alongside other young musicians of all standards. This is the best bit! It's fun and inspiring and will enable you to explore all sorts of different musical styles and make new friends.
