Learn as you Play

GM’s adult music programme

Always longed to play a musical instrument?
Can’t find a tutor or instrument?
Used to play and want to return to music making?

Gloucestershire has a varied and rich heritage of music making for all ages.  From brass bands, wind bands, string ensembles and orchestras to choirs and folk groups, there are literally hundreds of groups you can join.

But what if you have always wanted to play a musical instrument but have not had the chance?  Well GM can offer you just that.  Gloucestershire Music (LA Music Service) offers a range of groups where you can ‘Learn As You Play’ or Sing.

Some of our F.A.M.E. and LAYP Musicians will be invited to perform at one of our concerts at the Stroud Subscription Rooms in December.

LAYP at Brookfield Music Centre (BMC)

BMC meet at Sir Thomas Rich's School (Gloucester) each Saturday morning during school term time, and offers a range of musical activities for young musicians and adults.  Young musicians who are in their first few weeks or months of learning can attend for free via our F.A.M.E. academy whilst more advanced young musicians can attend string ensembles, wind and brass groups, bands, jazz groups, orchestras, choirs and theory lessons.  There are now opportunities for adults to join a new ‘Learn As You Play Ensemble’.  Sessions cost £5 a week paid via our music card scheme.  LAYP is free to current GM music card members.  Instrument hire can be arranged. You can find out more details about BMC via this link

BMC offer woodwind, brass and strings LAYP adult sessions from 11:45 - 12:30.
