  • Wow, it's Music Next!

    All Key Stage 2 classes in Gloucestershire schools will receive 10 free whole class sessions between 2008 and 2011, a chance to experience strings, brass, clarinet , recorder, Samba percussion or singing. This is a programme funded by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) to enable all Primary aged children over time to have the opportunity to play a musical instrument or sing.

  • Gloucestershire Music and school groups to appear at the National Festival of Music for Youth

    Following the first ever regional festival organised by Music for Youth in Gloucestershire in March of this year, a number of groups from the county have been invited to perform at the National Festival of Music for Youth at Symphony Hall, Birmingham in July 2010.

    Gloucestershire Youth Sinfonia, Gloucestershire Youth Brass Band and Gloucestershire Youth Wind Orchestra, all run by Gloucestershire Music, will be joined by Pates Grammar School Orchestra, and Cleeve School Jazz Band and Choir performing at the week long festival taking place from 5th to 10th July in one of the UK's finest concert venues. 

    GYBB will be performing on Thursday 8th July at 18:00. GYWO on Friday 9th July at 17:25 and GYS on Saturday 10th July

  • Youth Makes Music 2010

    On each of four nights at the end of June hundreds of young musicians performed to packed houses at Cheltenham Town Hall. Talent was showcased at many different levels, with Gloucestershire Music's county ensembles being joined by classes of beginner instrumentalists from the county's Primary schools who had recently benefited from government funded Wider Opportunities sessions.
