Competition for Young Composers

Commencing in Spring 2010, ‘TO Compose’ is an exciting opportunity for aspiring composers to showcase their talent by writing a piece for Thornbury Orchestra (TO) to perform. The competition is open to any individual (or group) from Gloucestershire, South Gloucestershire and neighbouring counties. They will also include people living in the area who maybe in education elsewhere. There are 4 categories: GCSE, A level, further education (i.e. present at an educational establishment at that level on 30th November 2010) and an open class (not restricted by age or educational establishment). Each category is eligible for a £250 prize.

The overall winner will receive a further £250. We will have an open rehearsal session where the top compositions will be premiered.
