Gloucestershire Music Forum - for everyone working to develop music in Gloucestershire

Gloucestershire Music Forum was formed to encourage people involved in music to work together to increase music opportunities in the County. It is a not-for-profit social enterprise.

The government's Music Manifesto campaign, an initiative to improve music education in England, recommended that people working in music with young people - in the music industry, music education, community music - join together to establish local music hubs to improve access and opportunities for young people. Gloucestershire Music Forum was one of the first to be set up, in 2007, and Gloucestershire Music was a founder member.

The Forum's first project was to research what was happening in the county in terms of music-making with and by young people aged 14-25, work which was funded by Gloucestershire Music. Following this, in April 2008, the Forum secured a small grant from Gloucestershire County Council to set up a network of music development workers, working on average one day a week, to act as catalysts for music development in their areas. We're still in the early days of our development - but already we've achieved a lot by working together.
