We are the county's music education service, providing high quality music services for schools and young people.
- provide schools with whole class instrumental lessons, CPD for staff, special projects and more
- offer children and young people opportunities to play and perform together in our music groups – orchestras, bands, and other groups, at our out-of-school hours music centres
- provide instruments – from bassoons to xylophones, through our instrument hire service to anyone in the County (not just pupils)
... and run other activities including workshops, masterclasses, and more
We've proudly secured some major festivals for Gloucestershire, including The National Concert Band Festival which holds it’s South West and Wales regional festival here; and Music for Youth which has held a regional festival in Gloucestershire for 4 years and this year has increased our visibility and importance by becoming a major two-day festival which was held in March.
In November 2012 we brought together over 670 singers and instrumentalists in a massed performance as part of the “Last Night of the School’s Prom”, and won an award from Music Teacher magazine for 'best vocal initiative'.
We continue to work closely with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and in addition during 2013/14 engaged the services of Tasmin Little OBE, Bad Ass Brass, Craig Mather, Band of the Bugles and the Rifles, Philip Harper, Keith Allan and Tom Davoran.
Gloucestershire Music is one of the key partners in Make Music Gloucestershire, the county's music education hub: a network of schools, organisations and individuals working together to make sure music education reaches as many people as possible, and makes a difference to their lives and futures.
